FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who can join?
Any parent, carer or local community member can be part of the P&C.
When do we meet?
Every third Monday (during school terms), 6.30pm in the School Library
Do I have to come every month?
Nope! Come when you can. Every bit of involvement helps.
Is there a membership fee?
Yes — a small annual fee ($2). This gives you voting rights and lets you nominate for roles. But you can also attend meetings and be a part of our P&C without being a financial member.
Do I need experience to hold a committee position?
Absolutely not. Support, handover notes and P&C Federation resources are available.
Can I just help without a role?
Yes! Volunteers are always welcome — no title required.
Who can vote, move, second or speak at meetings?
Only financial members can vote, nominate, move motions or second motions. Non-members can contribute to discussion when invited, but not participate in decisions.
I work full-time — can I still be involved?
Yes. Many roles are flexible, shared, or behind-the-scenes. Even helping once or twice a year makes a difference.
I can’t attend meetings — is that a problem?
Not at all. Attendance isn’t mandatory and notes are shared, plus we offer zoom dial-ins for the monthly meetings. Plenty of support happens outside meetings.
Do I need to be outgoing or confident speaking up?
Nope. You can contribute quietly, help with tasks, or support projects without speaking at meetings.
Is it a big time commitment?
It doesn’t have to be. You choose your level of involvement — from helping at one event to taking on a role.
What if I say yes and then realise it’s too much?
That’s okay. Roles can be shared, adjusted, or stepped back from — we’re all volunteers.
Is it cliquey or political?
No. The Faulconbridge P&C is renown for our collaboration, inclusiveness and supporting the school community.
What if my child is new (or about to leave the school)?
You’re still very welcome. Any contribution — short or long term — is valued.
Is it just fundraising?
Fundraising is a big part of it, but it’s also about community, advocacy, events and supporting school initiatives.
What if I don’t know anyone?
That’s one of the best reasons to join — it’s a great way to meet other families!
What do I get out of joining the P&C?
Connection, purpose and a real say in things that benefit your child and the wider school community — plus it’s genuinely rewarding.
Will my skills or interests be useful?
Yes! Whether you’re great at organising, numbers, creativity, social media, events, admin or just lending a hand — there’s a place for you.
Does the P&C really make a difference?
Yes. P&C contributions directly fund resources, programs and experiences that support students and teachers at Faulconbridge PS.
Will I be supported if I join?
Yes. You won’t be left to figure things out alone — roles are supported, shared and backed by clear processes and Federation resources.
